FDA recall roundup (1/25/25)

Since federal agencies have had a pause on communications, what has the FDA recalled since then?

This was not a topic that I was initially planning on writing about, but because the federal government has recently put a pause on communications coming out of federal health agencies such as the CDC and FDA, I am going to regularly update you on what the FDA has listed in their recall list.

This is a matter of safety for the general public. Normally, you can sign up for alerts directly from the FDA. I have these alerts in my email inbox, but these communications are non-existent currently. Therefore, until the communications come back online, I will check the list and write quick summaries here.

Apna Wholesale Issues Alert on Undeclared Sulfites in “Paras Premium Golden Raisins

Their 7oz and 14oz “Paras Premium Golden Raisins” because they contain undeclared Sulphur Dioxide (sulfites). Consumers who have severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products.

So far, no illnesses have been reported as of 1/22/2025.

Routine sampling found the undeclared sulfites.

The recalled “Paras Premium Golden Raisins” were distributed in New York and Massachusetts through Apna Bazar Farmers Market retail stores. The product comes in 7oz and 14oz, clear plastic packages with UPC codes 818051014811 and 818051014828.

Consumers who have purchased “Paras Premium Golden Raisins are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 516-807-4555.

TS Food Packaging is Recalling its “Rural King” and “Wabash Valley Farms” Bacon Seasoning Due to the Presence of an Undeclared Soy Ingredient

These seasonings were sold nationwide through e-commerce and retail stores. No illnesses have been reported to date. This occurred because there was a review process gap between the supplier and their customer base and corrective actions are put in place to prevent this from happening again.

The product is packaged in 4.2 oz plastic jars with lot numbers 17324s,27824s, and 30324s, along with 1oz sample gift packets marked with lot numbers 16524SP, 16624SP, 23424SP, 26324SP, 26424SP, 26724SP, 20624S, 20724S.

Consumers who have purchased Rural King or Wabash Valley Farms Bacon Seasonings packages are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Provepharm Inc. Issues Voluntary Nationwide Recall of One Lot of Phenylephrine Hydrochloride Injection, USP, 10 mg/ mL (Pharmacy Bulk Package) Due to Presence of Particulate Matter

Provepharm Inc. is voluntarily recalling lot number 24020027; Expiry Date December 2025 of Phenylephrine hydrochloride Injection, USP, 10 mg/ mL (Pharmacy Bulk Package) at the hospital/institutional level. This recall was initiated based on a customer complaint from a pharmacy after observing a visible black particulate matter found in a single-sealed vial of the product.

Phenylephrine hydrochloride Injection is used for the treatment of clinically important hypotension resulting primarily from vasodilation in the setting of anesthesia and is packaged in 10 mL vial, 1 single dose vial, with NDC code as 81284-213-01.

The product can be identified by product name on carton and vial label and with lot number 24020027 and Exp. Date: Dec 2025 (NDC 81284-213-01) (See enclosed vial label).
