Vaccine Information Sheets not on CDC Website (2/1/2025)
What does this mean?
You may have heard that since the White House put out a ton of executive orders, there has been fundamental changes in how the federal government has been operating lately. This morning, I found out that Vaccine Information Sheets (VIS) are down from the CDC website.
Federal law (under the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act, NCIVA) requires a healthcare professional to provide a copy of the current VIS to an adult patient or to a child’s parent/legal representative before vaccinating an adult or child with a dose of the following vaccines: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, measles, mumps, rubella, polio, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), influenza, pneumococcal conjugate, meningococcal, rotavirus, human papillomavirus (HPV), or varicella (chicken pox).
This information is vital for patients and families to make informed choices about routine vaccines. I have no idea why these sheets were removed from the CDC website.
I have found the pages have been housed outside of the CDC at this website.
I may not have any other updates today regarding recalls, but I wanted to get this information to you as quickly as possible.
