I love this. I have been exposed to flu a and flu b multiple times at work and the vaccine is working for me. I am scared that next year we won't have one.

Considering the FDA has canceled the committee meeting that convenes to determine the vaccine components for next year's flu vaccination, we probably won't.

Immune compromised people did not do well with influenza A even with a vaccination. The virus shape shifted like a nightmare and I had it twice. 2 months in a row. It was not mild for me. They have got to do better at guessing what it will do. Because there is always going to be people who refuse to be vaccinated.

I see what you did there with the “Wild to Mild” sign off. I really appreciate your bite-sized little nuggets. I’ve started incorporating them into the start of many of my microbiology lectures. It’s a great way to talk to my students about this subject, and what’s unfolding in our country and failing government.

Dr. Rubin, I have been avoiding large gatherings and masking a lot since fall (with good masks). I am 75 and have well-controlled moderate asthma So far so good. I got the enhanced flu vaccine for seniors around early Oct. 2024. Are there data on the effectiveless of this vaccine? Thank you.

Thank you for sharing this! It makes sense! All three of my kids were vaccinated. (My husband and I just got busy and didn’t make the time for it.) We all ended up with it a few weeks ago. My youngest got it the worst. High fevers for 10 days. My oldest and middle got medicine and their flu was more milder. My husband got it the most mild I’ve ever seen especially for not getting the vaccination! Mine was more mild than I’ve had previously but I had chills instead of a fever which was weird and honestly the worst part. (For comparison, the last time I had the flu, in 2021, it felt like a ton of bricks on my chest and I had a high fever that made me delirious.)

Any measurements for the adjuvanted senior influenza vaccine? I wonder how the adjuvant vs senescent immune system fight is working out.

I'm curious how this matches up with past years and if we have enough data to start seeing trends in effectiveness vs noise
