Sorry to be blunt, but here's another example of a FAFO moment. Cassidy had to know this whole thing was a sham but went ahead and voted for it. Agree with the comment below- they are not going to place credible people on the committee. It's a complete mess and people will die because of it. Thank you for keeping us up to date.

Today RFK testified before the Health Subcommittee. I was grateful that Representative Kim Schrier bluntly and boldly called out RFK for his lack of knowledge, experience, and expertise when it comes to healthcare and particularly vaccine-preventable diseases. I was disappointed, but not necessarily surprised, to hear RFK feign ignorance when he was questioned on why he would have lied to Bill Cassidy regarding keeping ACIP intact. He claimed he never said that… but I think we all know that he did, and he knows it too. I hope other Congress people take note from Rep. Schrier and put the pressure on RFK.

I'm a retired nurse and this all has hit so close to home.

Needless suffering always pisses the hell out of me

I still can't believe Dr’s Makary, Prasad and Bhattacharya signed up for this. I have followed this all closely and I am well aware of their contrarian impulses, but really?

I’m not at all surprised by any of the physicians such as Marty Makary and Vinay Prasad who signed onto this. They were some of the loudest, and misinformed, voices during the pandemic phase of COVID.

Cassidy sold out his profession and now wants to pretend to have a conscience. Too little, and too late to save face. When it mattered, he fell in line and his words are impotent now.

Another concern that I would have is if the meeting is delayed until actual experts can be added to the board, why would we assume that RFK Jr would accomplish it. Could end up never meeting.

I am convinced that the goal RFK Jr. has is to eliminate as many people from existence as possible while he is in charge. There is no other explanation for the elimination of all the programs, communication with the public, research and guidance.

Well why did he vote for the crackpot then? 🤬🤬🤬

Because he's from Louisiana (the state that gave us Speaker Mike Johnson) and he's afraid of losing the primary next year to a stronger MAGA candidate. IMHO, he's gonna lose anyway, but he clearly hasn't realized it yet.

And as a physician who took the Hippocratic Oath, willing to be an accessory to untold millions of deaths

I hope the pause is granted. Although lately, rule of law (and sciences!!) as well as decency seem to fail. The courts, SCOTUS included, are leaning towards this regime.

Where has he been hiding all this time while RFK Jr and his cronies have been dismantling public health and science and research? He sold out his profession and his ethics for what?! What a joke this administration has become.

He had every opportunity to keep this from happening. Deep down, he had concerns but he caved and now this is all on him and he needs to own it.

It’s too late. No reason to close the barn door when coyotes already ate the cow.

Cassidy is complicit. He knew better. As a physician, I am angered at the disgrace he brings to the profession. I contacted him 3 times- about his vote to advance the nomination, to question the so-called meetings with brain-worm he was promised, and to question how cod liver oil and not vaccines were supposed to contain measles.EACH time, his office responded with THE SAME FORM LETTER- word for word. He or his staff did not read about what I was concerned, and honestly I feel he doesn’t give a damn- too little too late - the lives lost and harmed by HHS are on him as well as the unqualified RFK and his buffoons. People will be hurt and die- and they are responsible - but watching RFK today, he doesn’t gave a damn either.

Ditto here. His actions show that his portfolio , Not his Hippocratic Oath, is his guiding light
