Thank you. Mom of a wonderful woman who was born in 1999, and diagnosed with Autism in 2002. My husband and I are both medical professionals, and at one time, I beat myself up mentally every day after she was diagnosed until I read enough scholarly peer reviewed studies to convince the scientific side of myself that vaccinating her properly was not the cause of her autism. We intervened for her autism before she was diagnosed, and long story short she is a graduate of a Big 10 university with a degree in Graphic Design, working in insurance. She drives, has friends, has an IQ of 135, is a friend to all, and can cuss like a sailor when appropriate. She’s a pretty cool person!

I was three quarters of the way through this and still wanting to argue with you "ma'am, that is a CHILD!" before I remembered that it's 2025 not 2005. 😅

Congratulations on raising such an amazing sounding young woman. And thank you for reminding me of the passing of time. It truly is amazing what can be accomplished with early intervention.

So much of it revolved around finding the right people and having access to them. We were so fortunate to be in the greater Chicagoland area, and had access to incredible professionals who were at the forefront of their specialties…that made a huge difference. Because at the time she was diagnosed, it was thought that Autism was nonverbal and occurring mostly in males—we now know this not to be true. And we lived in a school district that had an unbelievable special services program, with caring and engaging teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and all of these incredible folks taught us how to write a really strong and supportive IEP—which was critical to our daughter’s success. Now, families have to beg for services. We were just really fortunate, and read everything we could get our hands on, and didn’t stop asking questions until we got the answers we needed.

"Am I a doctor? No. Do I have any proof at all? No. Do I believe I'm right anyway? Yes."

I wish there was a vaccine for this diseased way of thinking.

Exactly! Do I have proof of anything? No, but I'm going to be very loud and proud about what I THINK instead.

This is where you get asked for the proof and wonder off without providing any.

Wow, I actually remember this broadcast!

It makes me sad how little progress we've made.

And so many of those autistic kids back then are autistic adults now, and doing very well-- and yeah it sucks to live in an allistic world as an autistic person because the world is openly hostile to you and not made for you, but autism is not a death sentence. and there are so many technologies to help autistic people communicate and interact with the world.

The "war on science" is doing much more harm than good.

At that time, I was a speech therapist who served many with autism. One of our specialists was concerned, not so much because of the mercury but because of the number of vaccines taken together. I think that theory has also been debunked. My own belief, unproven by anyone, is that there could be different causes. I think heredity may have something to do with it and I also think some of the pest control chemicals used in agriculture as well as contamination of water in some areas may all be suspicious. I think that we are most like back to the “I don’t know “ as the cause. As far as vaccines go, we always need to weigh benefits and side effects. Most of this has been done by the FDA. Vaccine, even if it does have a side effect, still protects us from far worse than autism. People with autism usually live; people with typhoid fever etc often don’t.

Thank you for sharing this news clip of your father, Dr. Ira Rubin. I'm not at all surprised that concern for the wellbeing of children runs in the family. It’s more clear than ever that your father and you have the science on your side, and that RFK Jr. is lost in conspiracy theories and old wives tales.

Vaccines were a convenient and timely villain to shift the blame for a child's diagnosis of autism away from the parents, especially the mothers who were traditionally blamed for being too cold or rigid. Neither vaccines nor parenting styles have ever been the cause of autism, and as science advances, this becomes increasingly evident. Hopefully, future generations won’t blame vaccines for autism, and will accept neurodivergence as a variant of human brain development.

I can only anecdotally offer that vaccines in no way caused my son’s autism. He was a unique infant before and after, and as he got older that uniqueness led to certain developmental concerns which in turn led to a diagnosis. It’s also strictly anecdotal, but a confirmed fact, that he didn’t die from mumps or measles, or diphtheria or pertussis or polio or covid or any other disease.

Thank you, Dr. Rubin, for sending this clip that your dad made 20 years ago. I remember many friends that I knew would not vaccinate their children because of the fear of them getting autism. So many childhood diseases that were once eradicated are now reappearing because many children were not vaccinated. The measles outbreak that is spreading now is one example.

According to the CDC thimerosal was removed or reduced in vaccines in 2001, in Jan 2003 all vaccines containing thimerosal expired.

Anyone who has ever died breathed in oxygen. Oxygen causes death - do I have the proof? No. Do I believe it? Yes. Stop breathing oxygen if you want to live.

Ban DHMO! http://bandhmo.org

(explanation for anyone who needs it: dihydrogen monoxide or DHMO is a fancy chemical name for water. the site is satire about how everyone who drinks water will die, and water is found in cancer patients, etc etc etc.)

Thank you for sharing and thank you for all you do! I love your updates and it is so necessary to have a trustworthy source of info such as yourself in these uncertain times. I am a Registered Nurse who works in a pediatric office and a large part of my job is administering vaccines. What is happening now with parents refusing vaccines is scary. I practice in a blue state but there are still many parents who have become fearful. Thank goodness the pediatricians I work for have a policy that to stay with our practice you must give required vaccines. If you want to spread them out they will work with you on that. Thank you Dr. Rubin!!!

I looked him up. he is a vaccine denier who was ordered by the courts to pay a 100,000 euros to a doctor who proved that measles is a virus. this was a challenge he posted. Lanka believes measles is a psychosomatic disease.
